Because of his passion for the storied Scuderia, Charles Leclerc has stated that he only wants to win the Formula 1 world championship with Ferrari, "no matter how long it takes." After joining the Ferrari academy in 2016, the 27-year-old was elevated to the F1 team three years later. Since then, he has won eight Grand Prix races and placed as high as second in the standings.
Given his extraordinary talent, Leclerc's absence of a world championship is a disgrace. He won many junior championships and finished ahead of his teammate in all but one of his Ferrari years.
Leclerc is now fifth in the standings and 161 points behind leader Oscar Piastri in the dominating McLaren, and the Italian team has only struggled to provide him with a car that can win a championship.
Charles Leclerc: Why Ferrari Is His Only Dream for F1 Glory
Because I love this team very much, I think that's the answer," Leclerc said when asked why he hasn't tried to find a new spot before the Azerbaijan Grand Prix this weekend. My lifelong love for Ferrari serves as my inspiration, and I will stop at nothing to bring it back to the top.
At the moment, I'm totally into it, I'm working on it, and that's what motivates me, but I'll do everything in the world until I lose faith in the project.
That, of course, doesn't change how unhappy I was at the beginning of the season when I saw we were well behind McLaren. But then you start afresh and find motivation in new goals, like winning this year.
We are in a risky scenario, so even though it's not as good as we would have liked, it is my responsibility as a driver to maximize it for the team and myself. Since I'm also highly competitive, having two cars encourages me to keep improving and performing at my best.

No Matter How Long It Takes”: Leclerc’s Loyalty to the Scuderia
Ferrari is usually held to greater standards than any other team due to its heritage and tifosi. This was particularly true this year as it sought to outperform McLaren, which finished second last year.
That certainly didn't happen, as Leclerc and teammate Lewis Hamilton have yet to win a grand prix. But the Monegasque admitted that he had to ignore the outside world if he wanted to thrive.
Leclerc said, "I've been doing this since I joined the team." It was definitely a little harder in 2019 since I was young and everything was fresh. Being in red for my second year in Formula 1 was extremely special because there was a lot of attention focused only on me.
Since then, though, it's important to stand back and avoid reacting to emotions and outside declarations all the time.
"We are doing a good job, but not good enough, because we need to be back winning soon," I said. "I think it's very important to just stay focused and on that."
2026 Regulations and Ferrari’s Future: Leclerc’s Big Championship Hope
Given the significant regulatory changes in 2026, when automobiles are expected to become lighter and thinner with a greater emphasis on electric energy, the campaign offers a new chance to do so. Leclerc had previously voiced his doubts about the shift, but he has somewhat altered his opinion after seeing the 2026 vehicle in a simulator.
He said, "The rate of improvement is very impressive." "I believe that every week, all the teams make significant progress, therefore it's a positive thing that things have improved since I last spoke out about the modifications to the regulations.
"I continue to believe that there will be significant change and that certain things will be quite challenging to alter. We simply need to get used to these new vehicles, and fighting will be quite challenging. I see that as a challenge, though. If we prevail, I have no doubt that I will adore such rules. It might be four long years [before the next change] if we don't.
